Daerielle was born the second daughter to House Atsir of Atsiria, and so narrowly missed her chance to be heir to the house, to sit the Atsirian Council, to see all the beautiful things that would be in Razen. Daerielle, as a child, burned with jealousy and some small amounts of rage toward her older sister, wishing that she got to be the one to see the palace and the prince and the queen-to-be, Edalene.

It was when Westa left and did not return that Daerielle began considering what her options actually were. She was not the heir to House Atsir, and nor would she likely ever see Razen. The books she read, however, and the maps and paintings she studied, suggested that perhaps Razen was not a place she should have any interest in visiting. Cleraine was home, and Daerielle had no real desire to see the place that had become the capital in place of her home.

Yet there were still few paths open to her. She was still not heir. Dissatisfied more and more as she grew older, Daerielle took solace in studying. She was disenchanted by magics, at first, though after mastering the staff she grew more interested in manipulation of the elements. Even though she studied and grew older, she found no solution to the problem that faced her: she could find no purpose in her life.

Even now, she's still looking.

Daerielle has learned that innocence is a tool that easily disarms other people, and so has taken it upon her as her dominant face. Daerielle will often ask questions about things that others may find obvious, or be ignorant about facts that other people already know. She takes a deliberate pleasure in asking about things that may make other people uncomfortable, such as sex, secrets, trigger issues, or other such things.

Under the innocence, Daerielle is almost frighteningly bright, learning things at a great speed and retaining them with little difficulty. She's skilled at memorization, and has taught herself a number of languages. Often, she teaches herself new things on her own, without the help of her tutors, whom she sees as simply means to an end. She tends to lose patience quickly when she is not understood or when she is refused a piece of information that she sees as important. She takes pride in blending this into her more naive personality, and thus her anger often comes off at the same degree as a child's temper tantrum.

Daerielle is deeply dissatisfied with her life and the seeming lack of purpose in it, but she dislikes other people noticing her problems with the concept. Thus, she often tries not to be noticed as anything more than an innocent, childlike adult. This fact has earned her some speculation that she is ill or mad, but she pays the rumors no heed, as they do nothing for her.

Daerielle maintains a youthful appearance to match her naive personality. She grows her blond hair long, often braiding it to keep it out of her blue eyes. She has a very petite build, both short and thin even for an Atsirian woman. She dresses very simply, not drawing any extra attention to herself if she doesn't have to. The curves she has are very small to fit her small frame, and she often carries herself in a way that is unobtrusive and easily unnoticed.
